Busy weekend for East Glos Junior Mavericks squash squad

Our Junior Mavericks took part in various competitions last weekend. There was an excellent turnout of juniors representing the county playing in Sheffield and the annual Cadbury tournament, hosted by Cheltenham Ladies College and run by Charlotte Elgood.
Junior Intercounty finals results
- Bu13s: Fifth in the championship event: #1 Daniel Stevenson; #2 Ben Rolfe; #3 Tom Rolfe; #4 Jonathan Rebeiro; #5 Kaif Malik
- Gu13s: Fifth in the championship event: #1 Lyla Blumberg; #2 Hannah Rebeiro; #3 Halle Griggs; #4 Rebekah Kerr-Tomasetto
- Bu15s: Sixth in the premiership division: #1 Thomas Naylor; #2 Ben Blumberg; #3 Marcus Yolland; #4 Jake Kulkarni; #5 Daniel Longley
- Bu17s: Seventh in the premiership division: #1 Matthew Leung; #2 Sam Terrell; #3 Harry Wallace; #6 Will O’Connor

A special thank you to Aaron Sutherland, Lily Stanton, and Joe Tyler for supporting the teams in Sheffield, and to Charlotte Elgood for running the Cadbury Tournament and to those who supported her in running the event. An incredible number of players competing in Gloucestershire and representing the county. We’re very proud of you all.
The annual Cadbury Tournament was held at Cheltenham Ladies’ College on Saturday 21st March.

Cadbury Tournament winners and runners-up
60 juniors, all motivated by the chance to win chocolate, competed in a range of age-group events, bringing energy and fun to the proceedings. The event is aimed at encouraging developing players into competition, and it is a great place to start.
Mixed U9 / U11 event: This event combined both the younger age groups. There was some great play and very close matches.
U9 winner – Flynn Mannion; U9 runner-up – James Gande
U11 winner – David Fullerton; U11 runner-up – Jacob Parker- Giles
U13 Boys: Winner – Ruben Phelps-Garcia; Runner-up – Barney Le Hegarat. This was full of energy with the boys competing in a monad format to gain a position from one to eight.
U17 Boys: Winner – Edmund Kulkarni; Runner-up – Ben Houghton. This was again an eight-player Monrad, with all competing for their positions. There were some very close matches, and all gained some great match experience.
The girls’ event saw about 30 girls competing for their chocolate. Each category was split into A and B grades, enabling everyone to get well-matched games.
- U19 B grade: Winner – Ellie Mouselli; Runner-up – Ortensia Littlewood
- U19 A grade: Winner – Dyuthi Kirani; Runner-up – Kate Kulkarni
- U15 B grade: Winner – Josephine Chan; Runner-up – Ellie Tang
- U15 A grade: Winner – May Larter; R/Up – Suri Shi
Charlotte said: “Thank you to all my helpers and especially Joe Price and Talia Phelps, who did an excellent job of marking and keeping the whole event running. It was a great experience for all, and I hope to see some of you back next year”.
