About the Association of Centenary Tennis Clubs (CTC)

The CTC is an umbrella group of 98 clubs in 29 countries on five continents. Members include some of the most prestigious clubs in the sport. The association has an extensive global membership and is recognised by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). All member clubs have a history dating back at least one hundred years and have played a significant sporting tradition and social role in their communities.

There are some excellent benefits for East Glos members

You can arrange introductions to CTC member clubs overseas, either individually or as groups. This would typically be while you’re on holiday. However, there are examples of club members working in another country and negotiating temporary membership. Member clubs provide a personal welcome and typically offer free play to visiting CTC members. They can also arrange social play or matches.

Clubs have also taken advantage of the CTC network to help junior performance players and participate in CTC team events in the UK and overseas. (Note: Do discuss the respective playing standards first to ensure the matches are competitive). Many CTC clubs also offer padel and squash.

There’s also the opportunity to represent East Glos in tournaments with other CTC clubs. In 2025 members have played at clubs in Paris and Berlin and Edgbaston Priory. In 2026 we’ll be organising trips to clubs in Venice, Dublin and Winchester.

Your East Glos CTC team

David Roper, tennis committee chair, leads the team and liaises with the tennis committee. Club manager Darren Morris is the link between the sub-committee and the wider club membership. Liz Sim and David Barham are the CTC coordinators. They do background work, including liaising with the CTC for entering tournaments.

How to play at a CTC member club

You’ll need a letter of introduction from East Glos. Please contact club manager Darren Morris with details of the club you’d like to visit and the dates. Once we’ve introduced you, we’ll let you know so you can arrange the final details directly with the club you’re visiting.
