Social tennis: Flexible and fun
With six social tennis sessions a week, you can drop into any session, whenever you like. Perfect if you don’t want a regular commitment.
If you’re new to the club and have played before, social tennis is an excellent way to meet new people.
How to get started with social tennis.
To take part, you’ll need to be a club member and be able to serve, hold a rally and know how to score.
Adult members: When you join the club, we’ll give you a free 45-minute session with one of our expert coaches. As well as giving you some tips to improve your game, the coach will guide you on how best to meet other members of the same standard and how to join in at social tennis.
Note: The free 45-minute session can be for any of our club sports, so you can choose padel, squash or racketball if you prefer.
Social tennis: How it works
You’ll be paired with players of the same standard where possible. Social tennis is also about forging friendships with other members, with an emphasis on fun.
Notes
- For bookable sessions you can book easily using the link above. Please log in using the details provided when you joined the club.
- Bookings are on a first come, first served basis. When a session becomes full you’ll see a notice advising this.
- For bookable sessions, the first two slots are booked as one entity. I.e. You can’t book and then turn up for just the first or second slot.
- For the third sessions on Thursdays and weekends, priority will be given to those turning up at 7.20pm or 3.20pm. However, if you’re booked in for the earlier sessions, you’re welcome to stay for the third sessions.
- For bookable sessions, if you find you can’t play, please cancel in good time. It’s easy to do this on our member portal via the link above.
- To ensure fairness for everyone, we monitor those who have booked in advance but not turned up. Repeat non-attendance for two weeks in a month will result in you not being allowed to attend social tennis for the following month.
Some helpful tips for enjoying your social tennis
- You can play as many or as few sessions as you wish and choose which session time you want to start.
- Please turn up at least 10 minutes before the session start time. For non-bookable sessions, please tell the organiser how many sessions you’d like to play.
- Please respect the organiser’s decisions.
(i) We strive to give everyone balanced games, but it’s not always possible. Sometimes you might be playing with people of a stronger or lesser standard.
(ii) On arrival please refrain from making specific requests, e.g. “Can I play men’s doubles/ladies doubles” etc. The organisers are working under time pressure and to accommodate personal requests impacts on the process. - When walking to your court, please avoid walking across the back of other courts. Please walk around and enter by the appropriate gate.
- If you need to retrieve a ball from another court, please wait until their point has finished to avoid interrupting their game.
- Everyone was new here once. Please help new members while they learn the ropes.
- And finally, our most important tip – have fun!
