Spotlight on your East Glos hospitality team

In a regular series in our weekly E-News, we’re shining a light on the various functions that make East Glos such a great club to belong to.

Under the experienced management of Tommy Wishart, and supported by long-serving supervisors Michelle Vincent (seventeen years) and Amanda Cronk (seven years), the hospitality team is a busy part of the club. From daytime teas and coffees, to sandwiches and lunches for that special occasion, the team is always ready to attend to the needs of members and visitors.

Catering requirements vary throughout the year, from major tournaments to evening squash and padel matches with sit-down food, to children’s after-school meals in term time. Indeed, the service offering is rarely unavailable to members. From 8am to 11pm every day, catering is available to all who require something to sustain them.

There’s also a lot that goes on behind the scenes. 

Much of the food is produced and packaged by the catering team. They also spend time on menu development, creating and designing everything from bespoke cakes and buffets to weekly specials and seasonal offerings such as Christmas meals. There’s also event planning, coordination, and delivery of engaging experiences, including quiz nights and themed events.

Food safety and hygiene are paramount to ensure a consistent five-star food hygiene rating, with rigorous attention to cleanliness and compliance, allergen and ingredient management.  Procurement and supply chain are also essential aspects: managing food sourcing to ensure quality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.

In short, the catering team is made up of experienced senior staff, as well as young, enthusiastic part-time employees who are well-trained and usually have some sort of link to the club.
