Association of Centenary Tennis Clubs: Tournaments coming up in 2025

East Glos became a member of the Association of Centenary Tennis Clubs (CTC) in November 2023. It comprises 89 member clubs globally, with a history dating back at least 100 years, and which have played a significant sporting tradition and social role in their communities. Club members have travelled far and wide visiting CTC clubs on four continents.

To further extend the benefits of our CTC membership, we’ve accepted invitations to play in two events in Europe and one in the UK.

The first is a one-day friendly doubles tournament at the Rot Weiss Tennis Club in Berlin on 6th September.

  • Four clubs with six men and six ladies from each club.
  • Two men and two ladies of an open age, two men and two ladies age 45+ and two men and two ladies age 55+ to make up a team.
  • The level is who play the odd inter-club match, or who play at a good social level.
  • Round-robin doubles playing tie break sets.
  • There will be a dinner in the evening.

The second is a three-day seniors competition at the Le Tir Club in the Bois de Boulogne, Paris on 26th, 27th and 28th September.

  • For ages 50 to 60+.
  • Four clubs with each team comprising one lady 50+, one lady 60+, two men 50+ and two men 60+.
  • Two ladies singles, four men’s singles, one ladies doubles and two men’s doubles per tie on each of the three days.
  • Although a friendly competition, this event is aimed at players who have played, or still currently play inter-club competitive matches.
  • There will be a welcome party and official dinner.

For these events there is an entry fee per player which might vary between £35 to £70 depending on the event, towards the social engagements. Travel to the event and accommodation are for each individual player to make. One option is to combine a short break holiday alongside the tennis.

In addition to these two events, East Glos has also been invited to take part in a one-day friendly Anglo-Irish CTC event at Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham on 20th September.

This event would follow a similar format to the Berlin event. No firm commitment to this event has been, and will be dependent on the degree of interest from our members

Are you interested?

Please register your interest at reception or email them with details of which events are of most interest to you. Please do this by mid-April so we can start making arrangements.

This is the club’s first full step into a CTC event, and a testbed. We sincerely hope however, it will be an ongoing and regular commitment each year. The ultimate aim is to participate in events for all members and age groups, including juniors.  Ideally this would be combining an overseas event with one at East Glos, which would be both tennis and social events combined.
